Faculty Member, Religious Studies and Theology
About
I teach New Testament and Second Temple Judaism in the department of Theology and Religious Studies at King's College London. I remain also Research Associate in Religious Studies at Waikato University, New Zealand. Currently I am working on two scholarly books. One is a commentary on Philo of Alexandria's De Vita Contemplativa (about the Therapeutae, a contemporary group to the early disciples of Jesus) and another is an examination of the classical sources on the Essenes, the Scrolls and the Dead Sea region. I am also interested at the moment in Cerinthus and other figures of the post-apostolic age. I write also poetry and fiction (not included here).
Names I publish under: Joan E. Taylor, Joan Taylor or Joan Norlev Taylor.
